You can help animals like Branson The Brave! Hit by a car — left on the side of the road to fend for himself or die — this brave dog that we named Branson is fighting. He was found, scared and injured, on the side of Highway 65 very early one Saturday morning. Suffering and in pain with two broken legs, but with a will to live and a lot of love to give, Branson was discovered by commuters driving from Branson who saw him struggling to survive. Unlike many others, they just couldn't keep driving. They stopped for sweet, loving Branson and gave him a chance to live.
That morning at 7am, when our first volunteer arrived at the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, the people who picked Branson up from the side of the road were leaving him at our door. They didn’t know what to do, so they tried to make him as comfortable as they could in a dog crate they had in their car, and they trusted us to get him the help he needed. And they were right.
Our volunteers and staff members sprang into action. They knew that Branson's injuries were too severe for him to remain at the Humane Society, so he was rushed to Galloway Village Veterinary Clinic where a close examination revealed that Branson's left hind leg was fractured. To walk again, he needed specialty surgery requiring pins and screws. His right hip was out of its socket and also required surgery. Branson was transferred to Bradford Park Veterinary Hospital where he received the specialty surgeries he needed to heal his broken body. The cost of his care will be significant, and the road to Branson’s recovery will be long. To get the care he needs, Branson needs help. He can’t ask you for it, so we’re asking for him.
