The mission of the Humane Society of Southwest Missourishall be to aid in the alleviation of distress and suffering of animals; to conduct and participate in educational programs and disseminate information to promote animal welfare; and to operate a shelter for animals in need of care and place such animals in suitable homes when possible. The shelter will not turn away an animal brought in by an individual for lack of donation, nor release an animal for any type of experimentation.

The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri is a private 501(c)3 non-profit organization funded solely by donations, bequests, and service fees.  We do not receive financial support from the Humane Society of the United States, Humane Society of Missouri, or local, state, or federal governments.

Volunteers Needed!

If you have some extra time on your hands and would like to help us make a difference, we could use your help. We have multiple specific tasks that we need volunteers to help us with. We do ask a commitment of two hours a week for at least eight weeks. For more information, check out our volunteer page!
