Spay and Neuter Services

The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri offers low-cost spay and neuter surgeries to the public. This service is solely intended for individuals that are not financially able to get their pet spayed or neutered at a veterinary clinic. If you are financially able to have your pet's surgery done at your veterinarian's office, we highly recommend that you do so due to the demand of low-cost services.

To set up a Spay/Neuter appointment for your pet, please fill out our Spay/Neuter Request Form below. Payment is required at the time the appointment is scheduled. As required by law, pets must be up-to-date on their rabies vaccine before undergoing surgery. If applicable, please bring a copy of your pet's rabies certificate with you on the day of your appointment, otherwise, we will have to administer the rabies vaccine for $12 the day of surgery. Spay and neuter pricing can be found below.

Details

  • Anyone wanting a low-cost surgery must be on some sort of government assistance (i.e. food stamps, welfare, WIC, disability, etc. All others will receive regular pricing for spay/neuter)
  • All animals must weigh a minimum of 2lbs and be at least 8 weeks old
  • Do not feed adult pets after midnight the night before surgery, however, any pets under 4 months of age can eat 1/4th of their regular breakfast the morning of surgery. You do not have to restrict water intake before surgery
  • Animal drop off is between 7:30-8:00AM and pick up is between 4:00-4:30PM, both in our intake office. Please don't be late for drop off or pick up!
  • Pets must be in a carrier or leashed when they are brought in for their appointment
  • Owner must pre-pay by phone or in person at the time the appointment is scheduled. We do not accept checks. Deposits are non-refundable to minimize no-shows on the day of surgery. Should you not show, we cannot fill in your appointment space with another client due to animals needing to fast prior to surgery
  • We recommend pets are up-to-date on vaccinations before surgery. If not, we can provide them for $12 each
  • There is an extra $12 charge for any animal not up-to-date on their rabies vaccine
  • There is an extra $15 charge for any animal that is pregnant, in heat, or a cryptorchid
