4th of July Pet Safety Tips

  • Microchip your furry friends and keep their tags up to date! Make sure your pets are wearing collars with their name and a phone number when fireworks are around. Pet not microchipped? Check out our Friday Walk-In Microchip Clinic here.

  • Take a photo of your pet that night, just to be safe! An updated photo will be helpful if your pet ends up lost.

  • Lighter fluid, matches, fireworks, citronella-based insect repellents, and sunscreen are harmful to pets. Never use any of these around your furry friends.

  • Pets can be sneaky and curious! Make sure to keep things like charcoal and alcohol out of reach.

  • If loud noises scare your pets, keep the TV on or some calming music to help cover up some of the sounds outside.

  • Take your dogs outside earlier in the day, so they can go back inside in time for fireworks. Never leave them unattended outdoors.

  • Leave your furry friends at home with their favorite toys, treats, and even clothes that have your scent on them. It's like a teddy bear to them!

  • Give them treats and let your friends do so, too! Positive reinforcement is always a good way to let them know it's okay.
